AI Music, Copyright, and Personalized Songs

One of the most common questions people ask is:

“Who owns an AI-generated song?”

The answer depends on the platform used to create it.

At Crafters Warehouse, I primarily use Suno to create personalized music. Suno has its own terms regarding ownership and commercial use, and those terms may differ from other AI music platforms. If you use a different service, you should review that platform’s policies to understand your rights and responsibilities.

When I create a personalized song for someone, what you’re purchasing is my creative time and experience. That includes working with you to develop the idea, writing or refining lyrics, creating prompts, generating multiple versions when needed, and selecting the version that best tells your story.

Unless we agree otherwise, songs created on my account remain part of my creative portfolio. That allows me to feature them on the Crafters Warehouse website, share them during club events, or include them in future showcases of AI-crafted music.

I also understand that some songs are deeply personal.

If you would rather keep your story private, there is another option.

I can write the lyrics and develop the AI prompt for you without generating the finished song. You can then use your own AI music account to create the music yourself, subject to the ownership and licensing terms of the platform you choose.

My goal is to give you flexibility while respecting both your privacy and the policies of the AI tools being used.

Because AI technology continues to evolve, the rules surrounding ownership and commercial use may change over time. This article is intended as general information rather than legal advice. If copyright ownership is important to your project, you should review the current terms of the AI platform you’re using or seek professional legal guidance.

Most importantly, my focus is helping people tell meaningful stories through music.

Whether your song is shared with the world or kept between you and the people you love is ultimately a decision we’ll make together.
